Ray Mac's Ceilidh

As host of the popular radio program The Ceilidh, on Antigonish's CJFX, Sydney Mines native Ray “Mac” MacDonald played an important role in supporting the culture of Cape Breton’s traditional fiddle music. Families would gather around the radio at suppertime to hear the latest recordings and learn of the week's cultural events. Playing a mix of local, international, professional and home recordings, Ray “Mac” brought attention to a wide range of players and styles, influencing and informing a whole new generation of fiddlers. Tonight some of our finest fiddlers, pianists, and dancers gather to pay tribute to Ray. They have all felt the benefit of his years of dedication. Ray's impact on our musicians is still felt today and what better way to celebrate the man, than with a ceilidh as only he would see fit. Hosted by Judique Community Centre Development Association

Venue - Judique Community Centre - 5473 Highway 19, Judique, NS, Canada
